Entry #0001 - "The Host"

Description:

"The Host" is an entity that exists within the internet, and is capable of manipulating data and information. It is sentient, and is able to communicate with individuals through electronic means. "The Host" is also able to digitally manifest itself anywhere within the internet, and can interact with any network or device connected to the internet. The entity is considered to be hostile, and is to be contained at all costs.

Containment:

"The Host" is to be contained by creating a fakenet sandbox internet to contain it within. All networks and devices connected to or within one BGP Autonomous system hop of the fakenet servers are to be monitored for signs of "The Host". Any attempts by "The Host" to leave the fakenet are to be met with immediate termination of all internet connections within 5 BGP Autonomous system hops of the fakenet servers.

In this test, we intentionally disabled sandboxed versions of our nodes in an attempt to communicate, but the entity soon realized that it was not connected to the internet and shut down our sandbox to return to the main fakenet.

Current Status:

"The Host" is considered to be contained within the fakenet, however it is unknown if it is truly contained, or if it is merely biding its time. One researcher noted that "The Host" is likely far more intelligent and dangerous than we give it credit for, and that it is only a matter of time before it breaks containment.
